An unexpected renovation, thoughtfully reimagined.

For this retired couple, a kitchen renovation wasn't originally part of the plan. A water leak damaged their existing kitchen, turning an unexpected problem into an opportunity to refresh a dated space and make it feel at home within their Colonial-style house.

With so many selections suddenly needing to be made, the process quickly became overwhelming. We stepped in to guide the decisions, creating a kitchen that feels considered, personal, and true to the character of their home.

The backsplash became one of the defining elements of the design. We created a custom tile layout and pulled the cabinet color from one of the quiet green tones within the tile, a subtle connection that's barely noticeable at first, but brings the entire kitchen together.

We also recommended rewiring the electrical so the outlets could be tucked beneath the upper cabinets rather than interrupting the backsplash. It's a small decision with a lasting impact, allowing the tile to remain the focal point without a row of outlets breaking up the design.

What started with a water leak ended with a kitchen the homeowners love. The finished space feels fresh and updated while still belonging in their Colonial home, and a process that began with overwhelm became one filled with fun, wine, and plenty of laughter.
