A Home That Needed to Feel Like Them
When this family moved into their new home, it checked the boxes. It did not feel like them. The finishes were builder basic, and the rooms lacked the warmth and personality they wanted for this next chapter.
He was drawn to rustic materials. She preferred modern design with a little edge. The work was finding the point where those two perspectives belonged together. With children, a cat and a home frequently shared with guests, every decision also needed to hold up to real life.
Through Full Service design, we reworked the kitchen, living room, dining area, entry, primary bedroom and a custom man room with a concealed gun safe.
The Kitchen Had to Work Differently
The existing countertops were staying, so the new cabinetry, tile, lighting and finishes had to make sense alongside them. The vent hood was raised to make the kitchen more comfortable for a very tall homeowner, and a custom granite sink was fabricated for the space.
Deep green cabinetry grounds the room. Glossy black tile with softly irregular edges adds contrast without separating the kitchen from the rest of the home.
One practical request affected more than it first appeared to: the homeowners wanted to see the television from the island. Furniture heights, lighting and television placement were considered together so the view remained clear.
Made for the Way They Entertain
When the right bar cabinet did not exist, we designed one. Finished in a complementary green, it includes a wine cooler and integrated storage so guests can comfortably help themselves.
Warm wood appears throughout the home, balancing the darker materials and sharper architectural details. Performance fabrics allow the furnishings to stand up to children, pets and everyday use.
A Home That Finally Feels Like Theirs
Because this was a Full Service project, we remained involved through design, construction, purchasing and installation. The family lived in the home while the work was underway, making organization and clear communication especially important.
The finished home feels relaxed, welcoming and personal. His style is present. Hers is too. Neither was diluted to make room for the other.
After
"Ashley did an amazing job. She got a good feeling for our style right away and selected high quality pieces within our price range. Super easy to work with and was super patient with us as this was our first time hiring an interior decorator."
